Meet Bethany Morrell, PMHNP-BC
The Heart Behind Tranquility Wellness
I'm Bethany Morrell, PMHNP-BC, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I started Tranquility Wellness because I believe you deserve more time, more clarity, and a stronger voice in your own care than a rushed appointment usually allows.
Over the years, I've met so many people who appear to be managing everything on the outside while quietly struggling underneath. Students trying to keep up. Professionals carrying enormous responsibility. Mothers taking care of everyone around them. People who have become so accustomed to functioning through anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD, insomnia, or chronic stress that they've almost forgotten what it feels like to feel truly well.
I also saw how easily psychiatric care can become focused on symptoms, diagnoses, and prescriptions. Those things matter tremendously, but I believe there should be room for something more.

A Place Called Tranquility
The name Tranquility has been part of my family long before it became the name of my practice.
Tranquility was the name of my great-grandfather's horse farm in Virginia's Piedmont, where my grandmother was born. Over the generations, it became more than the name of a place; it came to represent family, home, steadiness, and a sense of being grounded. My grandmother carried that feeling forward. Her home was a place where I felt safe, cared for, and able to simply be myself. Looking back, I realize how powerful it is to have a place and people who give you that sense of security. It stays with you.
Years later, as I built my career in mental health, I found myself drawn to creating that same feeling in a very different way.
That vision became Tranquility Wellness, a name that carries the same values I hope patients feel here: steadiness, safety, connection, and a place to become grounded again.
My approach is collaborative, not prescriptive. Medication may be part of treatment, but the goal is never just a prescription or a lower symptom score. It's whether you're sleeping better, thinking more clearly, and beginning to enjoy your life again.
Professional Bio
Bethany Morrell, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, brings more than 16 years of healthcare experience to Tranquility Wellness. Her path began at the University of Mary Washington, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology, followed by a nursing degree from Shenandoah University. She spent five years caring for children and families in the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit at Inova Children's Hospital, an experience that built a strong foundation in compassionate, thoughtful, and family-centered care.
Bethany went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing and become a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Over the next 11 years, she gained experience across a variety of healthcare settings, including pediatric primary care and retail health. As her career evolved, she felt increasingly drawn to the connection between physical health, emotional well-being, and the many factors that shape how people feel and function in their everyday lives.
She later completed postgraduate training at Johns Hopkins University to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. For the past three years, her work has focused exclusively on outpatient psychiatric care, where she has helped patients navigate concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, and the challenges that often accompany demanding seasons of life.
This diverse background shapes Bethany’s approach at Tranquility Wellness today. With experience spanning psychology, nursing, primary care, and psychiatry, she brings a whole-person perspective to mental health care—combining thoughtful medication management with an understanding of physical health, lifestyle, relationships, and the realities of everyday life. Her goal is to create a space where patients feel genuinely heard, understood, and actively involved in their care.
